This ladybug form brooch from the 1960's has Lea Stein Paris embossed on the brooch back.

It represents a theme often used in jewellery. Ladybugs have been traditionally given as gifts to bring good luck in major life events such as relocation, graduation, new jobs or love relationships. As they eat small pests they were seen as protecting crops and Christians linked their presence with "Our Lady" when they did appear. Supposedly the number of spots on their back are representative of the number of months the luck they bring will endure.
